What is AEO, and why does your business need it now?

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. It is the work of getting your business named in the answers that AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews hand people directly, instead of the old list of blue links. You need it now because a growing share of your customers are asking an AI for a recommendation and acting on the first answer, and if you are not in that answer, you are invisible to them.

SEO got you ranked, AEO gets you quoted

For twenty years the game was ranking: show up high on a page of search results so someone clicks you. AEO is different.   • Collect reviews and mentions on sites AI tools already read. Third parties saying you are good carries more weight than you saying it.

How to check where you stand

You do not need a tool to start. Open ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google, and ask the questions a customer would ask about a business like yours in your area. See who gets named. If it is your competitors and not you, that gap is the work. If nobody local gets named well, that is an opening you can take before they do.
